Around 70 pupils join the Lower School into Year 7 (11+) each academic year from a wide selection of primary schools and independent schools. In addition, boys from our Junior School move up into Year 7, making a year group total of around 125 boys.
Please note that candidates cannot apply for both Year 7 and for Year 9 Deferred Entry. The point of entry should be specified when completing the online Registration form, and it will not be possible to change this route after Friday 27 September 2024. Please see Entry Procedure and Practice Tests below for further information.

Online registration for entry to Year 7 in September 2025 is now open.The registration deadline is Monday 28 October 2024, midday.
The registration fee is £160 and is non-refundable.

If your son is in receipt of the Pupil Premium, you will not need to pay a registration fee. Please complete the online registration form, tick the Pupil Premium box and upload a letter from your current school confirming this. Please complete the form up to the point of making payment and then call the admissions team ahead of submitting the form who will complete the registration process for you. To use our Admissions Portal to register for an event or submit a registration form for the first time you will need to set up a user account.
If you have registered to attend an event since April 2024 or registered for your son to sit our examinations in the past you will already have created an account. Please sign in before continuing.
To complete a new registration form please select 'Add New Applicant'. If you are re-applying for the same son please do not edit his 'past application', instead select 'Add New Applicant'.

Music Scholarship Auditions
For boys who have been selected for a Music audition and have been invited back for an academic interview
The admissions test will be in three parts, which will last, in total, about 3 hours, including breaks during these tests.
Part 1 and Part 2 will be online tests which include sections on Mathematics, English, reasoning and problem solving.
Maths questions will cover the range of topics as set out in Key Stage 2 of the National Curriculum.
Part 3 will be a creative writing task which candidates will handwrite (or, if appropriate, type).

Candidates who show promise in the entrance examinations are invited to attend an interview in January. Our aim is to provide a friendly atmosphere for the interview during which the candidate will be allowed the opportunity to give further evidence of his academic strengths and some indication of interests and abilities with which he might make a contribution to the general life of the College.
Access Arrangements are pre-examination adjustments for candidates based on evidence of need and normal way of working. They can include, but are not limited to, extra time, supervised breaks and use of word processor. Access Arrangements are reviewed by our Learning Support team and granted in line with JCQ regulations. Through their Atom Home account, children can access 11+ and KS2 practice questions, learning resources, mock tests and practice papers that will help them build knowledge and confidence ahead of their Dulwich College entrance tests.
